Many have tried to tell the stories of pirates in video games. Some have created marvelous works that deserve to be remembered. But we won’t settle for just following in their footsteps. Here, we want to go beyond. We want to write the history of video games and breathe new life into the legend of piracy.

We will be guided by the pirates themselves, with the sense of freedom, exploration, and adventure that has always defined their existence. It is this spirit that will guide all of us: developers, designers, programmers, and players. We will create a living world, a unique experience, where every choice will reflect the same rebellion against the ordinary that defines the true essence of piracy.

In the End, What Do We Want?

Ask yourself, and you’ll see I’m right! We want to be Pirates, conquer seas, lands, and discover Hidden Treasures. We want to live the sea, the beach, the secrets, and conquer every corner of it. We want a ship to call home, or to be part of a crew, able to decide our fate. We want to live the deck of a ship with the crew, the deck, the bilge. We want to use the helm and make the sails govern like in a real ship. In short, we want to be what we want to be.

To do all this, we know we need more than an arcade game. We need an RPG open world, a deep and complex experience. Not a casual game, but an adventure that requires commitment and thought. We want realistic graphics, complex and realistic mechanics, and an essential HUD. No obvious markers, no easy-to-find treasures, no resources at hand. This is for true pirates, for those whose minds are on fire, who seek real challenges and real stimuli. Because piracy is complex, and not for everyone. There will certainly be necessary adjustments to make the game fun, but nothing that will distort the unique experience.
